AMTE Leadership Opportunity - AMTE Associate Vice President for Web Development

The  AMTE Board of Directors is recruiting for a new AVP for Web Development (an appointed leadership position in the Communications & Outreach Division) to complete a 3-year term of service in this pivotal role for the largest professional organization for the advancement of mathematics teacher education. The new AVP for Web Development will begin official duties in February, 2020. We plan to appoint the new AVP by May 1, 2019, so that the new AVP may shadow current AVP Joe Champion between May 2019 and February 2020.

The AVP for Web Development directs the ongoing design, development, and curation of AMTE’s robust website (amte.net), social media, conference app, and other systems for online content developed and disseminated by the organization. The AVP works closely with the Executive Director, Board, and other leadership to support production and delivery of online content. The AVP uses budgeted technology funds to support organization priorities, hiring assistants and contracting services as needed, while collaborating with AVPs, VPs, and elected Board members to advance projects with online components. This includes prioritizing and developing website features, monitoring and managing content, updating software and membership databases, monitoring security practices, and supporting data reporting.

Professional communication skills are essential for the role, and mathematics teacher educators with interests in internet technology may be especially well-suited for the role. Prior experience in online content creation, computer programming, web software or database development, graphic design, and/or working with large projects is desirable. Prominent current technologies used in this role include HTML, CSS3, Bootstrap, Javascript, Drupal 7 (especially Webforms and Views), CiviCRM, Google Apps, Adobe CS, Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter.

The position comes with a support package that is negotiable, and includes but may not be limited to a course buyout and student worker funds. There is also an operating budget for the Web Development division. Participating in AMTE leadership is a rewarding experience in many ways. Please consider applying for this important role. If you have any questions regarding the position, contact current AVP Joe Champion (joechampion@boisestate.edu) or Vice President Dusty Jones (DLJones@shsu.edu).
