Biography
Foster Graif is a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a PhD in STEM Education. His primary research interests lie in mathematical proof and teacher preparation. Foster's MA work was a case study of a geometry teacher's beliefs and practice in the area of proof and his dissertation is exploring how proof is addressed in secondary teacher preparation. Additional work in the area of teacher preparation has centered on error-handling during mathematics discussion, where he has worked closely with his advisor, Dr. Erin Baldinger, and Dr. Matthew Campbell of West Virginia University. Teaching experience includes three years of secondary mathematics instruction at Maple River High School in southern Minnesota. Foster has also enjoyed teaching a secondary math methods course and math content courses for elementary teacher candidates while at Minnesota, where he expects to graduate this year.
