Biography
Tye Campbell began his studies as a doctoral candidate in Mathematics Education at The University of Alabama in the Fall of 2017. He holds a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and a M.A. from Chadron State College. Tye taught grades 7-12 for four years in both rural and urban contexts. He is taking a rigorous course load in both mathematics and mathematics education hoping to earn the equivalent of a Master’s degree in Mathematics in the process of earning his PhD in Mathematics Education. He is currently working on several research projects with his advisor as a graduate research assistant. Their research focuses on programmatic effects of math content and math method courses on teacher licensure exams. His individual research interests are in proof and argumentation in K-12 contexts with a specific focus on collective argumentation in the middle grades.
