The Department of Mathematics in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences at Missouri State University seeks a tenure-track (9-month) Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education, beginning August 10, 2024.

 

Required Qualifications:  Applicants must have (or anticipate completion by August 2024 of) an appropriate doctorate in Mathematics Education, evidence of excellence in teaching, potential for research, commitment to professional activities, and effective communication skills. Applicants are expected to have research expertise in the teaching and learning of mathematics, teaching experience in grades 6-12, and graduate mathematics course work necessary to teach college undergraduate mathematics courses.

 

DutiesDuties include the teaching of mathematics courses for secondary, middle and elementary pre-service teachers as well as graduate students; implementing philosophies that reflect beliefs in teaching and learning consistent with national standards; engaging in research and scholarly activities leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations; mentoring thesis projects; providing expertise to bridge the transition to post-secondary education in mathematics; developing curriculum; advising of undergraduate and graduate students; compiling data for program accreditation; assisting in service activities; and demonstrating an active commitment to diversity in the educational community. Pursuing externally funded grants is encouraged.
