Position Summary:
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at California State University, Fresno seeks a creative and innovative STEM educator for a tenure-track, academic year faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Fresno State is committed to serving our region’s culturally and ethnically diverse student population by providing cutting-edge and collaborative teacher preparation programs and advanced educational opportunities for PreK-12 educators. For this position, teaching our elementary mathematics pedagogy course will be expected, and there will be many opportunities to be involved in Central California's mathematics and STEM education communities. Depending on areas of interest/expertise and departmental needs, opportunities may be available to teach credential and graduate courses in elementary science pedagogy, interdisciplinary curriculum design for PK-8 classrooms, educational psychology, or educational technology.
In addition to teaching credential and graduate courses, our faculty are expected to be actively engaged in scholarship--research, writing for publication, presenting at conferences, and writing grant proposals. Service benefiting the department, school, university, community, and profession is also an important faculty expectation.
Required Education:
The successful candidate must hold a doctorate with an emphasis in mathematics education, science education, or STEM education. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed by 16 August 2019.
Required Qualifications:

Experience with and a commitment to designing STEM-related curriculum that is interdisciplinary, project-based, and culturally responsive/relevant to the population of students served

Precollegiate mathematics teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- A record of research and scholarship in an area related to mathematics/science/STEM education

Demonstrated K-12 teaching excellence in a STEM subject matter area

Experience in grant development, writing, and procurement

Active involvement in professional organizations related to mathematics, science, and/or STEM education
- Experience teaching PreK-8 learners in informal educational settings and/or in providing professional development for PreK-8 teachers

Facility with instructional technologies

Experience working in an interdisciplinary team on a project or grant application
- In-depth understanding of curriculum theories and multiple pedagogical approaches
