The program in "Mathematics and Science Education" is one of three specializations in the department. Students in this specialization apply tools and perspectives from a range of fields and disciplines, including mathematics education, science education, cognitive science, anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and sociology to focus on the following topics: * Cognitive studies of learning and teaching in mathematics and science * Diversity and equity in mathematics and science education * How language and culture are implicated in teaching and learning mathematics and science.
