Make your plans now to attend the 2021 AMTE Annual Conference in Orlando, FL on February 11-13, 2021.
The conference will begin on Thursday morning and includes the annual AMTE Business Meeting. Meals provided during the conference and already included in your registration fee are Thursday’s lunch, Friday’s breakfast and lunch, and Saturday’s breakfast and lunch. Note that breakfast is not provided on Thursday morning. Dinner on Thursday and dinner on Friday are on your own.
Have you ever wondered about how the cost for registration is determined? The conference committee put together a few facts to help with what most of the registration cost supports. The cost of the ballrooms, session, and meeting rooms is offset by purchasing food, of which a minimum purchase is required. In other words, excluding meals from the program does not decrease the cost of the conference in the way one might expect. Some of the other costs include internet and AV equipment. We work for you and are sensitive to the needs of our community while maintaining high expectations. While we negotiate hotel contracts years in advance to help with keeping costs down, costs for holding conferences do increase. For the first time in three years the registration rate will increase by $25.
Some details for the conference program have been finalized. We are pleased to announce the following.
- The Judith E. Jacobs Lecture will be given by Dr. Marta Civil. Marta is the Roy F Graesser Professor of Mathematics at University of Arizona and currently serves there as the Chair.
The conference site is the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, FL just up the road from where the conference has been held in previous years. The hotel room rate is $189 for a single or double room. The deadline for reservations is November 30, 2020 or when the room block is full. Filling the rooms in our block at the conference hotel helps to reduce some of the conference expenses paid by AMTE, so please help support AMTE by staying at the conference hotel. Information about hotel reservations will be on the AMTE website in August.
The Program Committee received 419 proposal submissions and had 217 volunteers to serve as reviewers! Notification of acceptance is approximately August 15, 2020. Speaker registration is required by September 15, 2020.
Beginning in August, the conference registration process will open on the AMTE website. The Regular Registration deadline is November 30, 2020. Early registration at reduced rates is available through September 30. Check the AMTE Conference Information page for the latest updates.
We hope to see you in Orlando in February!
