We often agree that Equity in our mathematics teaching practices is an essential component of mathematics teaching. However, what do we mean by Equity in teaching practices? What does Equity require us to aim for in mathematics teaching and learning? Is Equity enough?
The AMTE Equity Committee is looking forward to hearing from you. During Fall 2019, AMTE members will receive a brief survey related to these questions, so you can share your perspectives on and goals for Equity. The survey's aim are to X-Ray and summarize the perspectives on Equity of AMTE members and start a collective conversation about these diverse perspectives.
Results will be shared during our Annual 2020 Conference in Phoenix, AZ at the interactive presentation entitled, Seeing the Forest Through the Trees: MTEs Making Sense of Multiple Perspectives on Equity.
We are looking forward to hearing from all of you and starting our conversation in February 2020!
