“Transitioning an Idea into an AMTE Publication Manuscript”

First announcement regarding AMTE’s Publications Session at the 2016 Annual Conference

We are trying a new format this year to help potential authors be better informed about manuscript expectations for AMTE Publications. This session is intended to allow for feedback to potential authors for the quality improvement of their ideas for manuscripts for AMTE’s publications—Mathematics Teacher Educator (MTE), Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education (CITE) and Connections—focusing on clarifying expectations for the relevant publication regarding scope, format, and the intended audience.

The two-hour session will be broken down into 15-minute “mini-sessions”. During these mini-sessions, a participant will meet with reviewers from the relevant publication to discuss a two-page outline of a potential manuscript the participant submitted for critique. Participants will be asked to email their outline to the respective publication’s editors sometime this Fall. The editors will assign two reviewers to each outline to be critiqued prior to the annual meeting so that the 15 minutes mini-session can be effectively used to make suggestions to each participant.

Further, to assist AMTE members who were unable to sign up for a session, a representative for each publication will be available at a “drop-in” table during the session to answer GENERAL questions relative to submission and publication processes for the respective journals; there will be no review of specific manuscript outlines at these “drop-in” tables.

Start thinking about an idea for an AMTE publication that you would like to submit for feedback. More details on signing up, the day and time of the session during the annual meeting, outline expectations, etc., will be determined once the conference schedule has been completed sometime in late October. Further announcements will be posted to the membership at that time.
